George’s Majestic Lounge
Part of our at the Nowhere Developers Conference, is to highlight the region of Northwest Arkansas and all the amazing people and places within it. No spotlight on NWA would be complete without mention of George’s Majestic Lounge.
George’s is the oldest and longest-running live music venue in Arkansas, housed on the most popular street in NWA: Dickson Street. Opened in 1927 by George Pappas, the venue started not only as a restaurant and bar, but a general store as well. Live music became the norm throughout the ‘70s. Today, George’s is known for being a warm, welcoming place by the railroad tracks on Dickson, which hosts smaller, beloved acts in the intimate front room and bigger, well-known names on the transcendiary main stage. Great drinks and an even greater patio round out the experience.
Here’s just a few of the acts that have performed at George’s in recent years: Band of Horses, Cold War Kids, Pat Green, Dierks Bentley, Fitz and the Tantrums, Cody Johnson, Big Gigantic, Cherub, and many more acts from just about every genre.
George’s legacy extends far beyond Arkansas. Consequence of Sound named George’s one of the 100 best venues in America, and Playboy Magazine voted it one of the top 100 college bars in the U.S.
Make a note to stop by this Northwest Arkansas landmark while you’re in town for Nowhere Developers!
